PROJECT DETAILS
On this project I worked as a level designer for Chocolate Liberation Front to help move their platforming puzzle game Oscura: Lost Light to a beta level before it was released to Steam and Humble Bundle.
MY ROLE
I worked closely with the lead designer/project lead, helping to refine some of the game systems, providing design consultation, and helping to tie the core themes of the game into a visual narrative that could be baked into level designs.
DAY-TO-DAY TASKS
My day-to-day tasks on this project involved working with an artist to develop reusable tile assets and puzzle elements, creating unique levels, pacing progression across individual levels and the entire game, brainstorming new puzzle ideas utilising the core elements of gameplay, and using level designs to teach the player to use the mechanics in interesting ways that they could apply to challenges of increasing difficulty.
OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS
I also worked with the project programmer to debug technical issues, and worked on a final boss fight design that drew upon the puzzle elements and challenges players developed while playing through each level.
